ScotGov in 2017 announced a renewables target aiming to achieve 11% of non-electrical heat demand from renewable sources by 2020.
But according to the 2021 progress report we discover that in 2020 ScotGov only managed 6.4% non-electrical heat from renewables source. Furthermore it was 6.6% 2019.
So the SNP government are not only failing to meet its target, things have actually been sliding backwards between 2019-2020. Little wonder Nicola Sturgeon keeps delivering speeches without press being invited on the eve of COP26.
Worth pointing out that the 6.6% from 2019 means that even without the COVID pandemic ScotGov was falling fairly short of their own 11% target. This one example underscores the gap between the first minister's rhetoric, and actual delivery regarding green policies.
