Those have been the words of the Jewish people for three millennia as they lurched from catastrophe to catastrophe. This is the hardest article I have ever written.
I can’t begin to comprehend the barbarity that descended on Israel the other day and my heart goes out to that land but I can say without reservation that I utterly despise the politicians, institutions and media in our country who equivocate on Israel’s status as a nation, pretend that there is a justification for a savage and brutal attack and even unashamedly align themselves with these murderous radical Islamists driven by extreme hatred of Jewish people and intent on ethnic cleansing. It has been a most distressing few days and who knows where these events are going to unfold
Yeah, it was tough write-up. I wanted to try to keep myself focused on constructing the argument and avoid being too emotional...but reading it back I see there were a few lines I let myself inject to outline my disgust at the bigotry on display.
Heartbreaking Dean. I don’t know what else to say except I cannot believe what’s actually happening. I’m astounded at the barbaric acts being carried out. I have cried and cried, then again while reading your article. My heart goes out to you, I feel for you and all others affected. I can’t imagine the intensity of fear, grief and desperation the people are suffering. I feel numb.
Many imagine anti-Semitism to be fascists in brown shirts marching in jackboots. But depressingly in its softer form its much more endemic. It's everywhere, in all classes of people. I think this week has woken many up to why UK Jews were so concerned about the prospect of Jeremy Corbyn all those years ago.
“Thank you” seems a deeply inappropriate response.I want to wipe the memory of the whimpering little boy who has just lost his sister ,his sister’s brave response and their parents obvious terror from my mind.I will never be able to.I’ve asked every one of my family ,especially my ‘ditsy’ youngsters to read and contemplate what you’ve written.
Please make sure they see it. Too many youngsters are consumed by the moral relativism which blinds them to the anti-Semitic hate playing out. In many ways our humanities departments in universities have genuinely failed. I have submitted an article to Think Scotland exploring where the postmodern, illiberal faux-progressive leftism comes from. Once it goes out on Think I'll repost it here too.

I can see why that would be “difficult” to write and publish ! Basic decency in a human would make it difficult to write !
Anyone who does not have sympathy with the Israeli people ,has something badly wrong with their world views !
