78,000 OR 72,186?
The latest published numbers of SNP members do not match the reported numbers of votes sent out.
AS the SNP leadership finally release official membership numbers I can’t help but briefly point out to my members that there is an apparent discrepancy here. This is breaking reporting, updates to follow.
According to the Mail on Sunday there were 78,000 votes emailed out in the SNP leadership race. I include a screenshot from Sky News reporting.
Now, you are smart enough to immediately spot my issue here. Today - after much prevarication and blocking - SNP HQ finally forked over the exact party membership numbers. It was 72,186.
You see the problem?
72,186 is patently not 78,000. This comes as Michael Blackley of the Mail has reported lapsed SNP members voting alongside appeals to resume paying membership dues in order to help keep the finances “ticking over”.
Future updates to come. In the meantime please check out my latest piece here.
